The college maintains an English Only Policy. Students who do not comply may be asked to leave the College.

As a condition of the Student Visa, students must maintain an attendance level of at least 80% in order to continue or extend study in Australia. Immigration authorities are notified of students with unsatisfactory attendance.

Course Duration:

The college General English courses and its Cambridge programs are designed in modules of 12 weeks. All students undertake a level assessment in weeks 6 and 12. Deferral:

Deferral of studies is usually not permitted. Any applications for deferral must be made in writing to the Director outlining reasons. Deferred study must be used within 12 months of the date of deferral.

Grievance Resolution:

If you have a personal problem or a problem with another student, a teacher, the college, your study or class, there are a number of steps you can take to remedy the problem. You can go to the person you have a problem with or you can speak to a teacher who may direct you to the Director of Studies, or you can choose to talk to the Director of Studies first. The Director of Studies will help you to solve the problem. If needed, the Director of Studies will meet with both parties to attempt to resolve the problem.

If you have a problem paying your fees, you must talk to the College Manager. You may nominate a support person to accompany you at any stage of the dispute resolution process.

If you cannot resolve your problem within the college, you should be aware of the following: The college will arrange for independent mediation to resolve the dispute.

An overseas student may contact the Director General of Education Queensland if the student is concerned about the conduct of a registered provider. The Director General may, under part 2, division 2 of the Act, suspend or cancel the registration of a provider or course.

Concerns about the conduct of the college should be addressed to the Senior Education Officer, Office of Non-State Education, Queensland Department of Education, PO Box 15033, City East, QLD 4002.

Nothing in The College's Dispute Resolution Policy negates the rights of any overseas student to take action under Australia's consumer protection laws in the case of financial dispute. Nothing in The College's Dispute Resolution Policy negates the rights of any overseas student to pursue other legal remedies.

To the extent that this policy relates to the financial interests of overseas students, a reference in this section to an overseas student includes an intending overseas student.
